چکیده
The Sulawesi black-crested macaque (Macaca nigra) is an endemic primate of North that categorized as critically endangered (IUCN 2015). Endoparasite contributes to the decline M.nigra. Therefore, this study aims determine prevalence endoparasites in (M. nigra). We collected 80 fresh fecal samples representing all sex from two habituated groups. analyzed them using direct examination technique (0.9% NaCl, iodine, methylene blue) and flotation with modified McMaster test. A total 15 endoparasite taxa were recorded 78 infected at least one or several taxa. Around 93.75% (75/80) positive for protozoa (Balantidium sp., Entamoeba Giardia Isospora sp.) 88.75% (71/80) helminths (Ancylostoma Strongyloides Haemonchus Trichuris Trichostrongylus Ascarid Diphyllobothrium Echinococcus Hymenolepis Schistosoma japonicum mekongi). abundance was higher than helminth, although number helminth taxon (11) higher. average temperature monthly rainfall did not affect (EPG). females males due different social styles; female crested macaques are more tolerant males. group a larger individuals had endoparasites. These results confirm presence high diversity gastrointestinal M. nigra, which can help understand transmission dynamics zoonotic potential, well consider conservation policies.

Social Tolerance in Wild Female Crested Macaques (Macaca nigra) in Tangkoko-Batuangus Nature Reserve, Sulawesi, Indonesia
In primates, females typically drive the evolution of the social system and present a wide diversity of social structures. To understand this diversity, it is necessary to document the consistency and/or flexibility of female social structures across and within species, contexts, and environments. Macaques (Macaca sp.) are an ideal taxon for such comparative study, showing both consistency and ...

The incidence and impact of malaria in North Sulawesi have declined both in the short term during the 1990s, and over a much longer timespan (though perhaps less continuously) since the end of the colonial period. The improvement already seems to have been well underway before deliberate vector control activities became extensive in the second half of the 1970s, and environmental changes affect...
متن کاملPrevalence of enteric parasites in pet macaques in Sulawesi, Indonesia.
On the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, nonhuman primate pets come into frequent contact with humans, presenting the possibility of zoonotic and anthropozoonotic disease transmission. We collected fecal samples from 88 pet macaques representing six of the seven macaque species currently recognized as endemic to Sulawesi (Macaca nigra, M. nigrescens, M. hecki, M. tonkeana, M. maura, and M. ochreat...

The use of psychoactive prescription drugs (PPDs) by young people is part of a broader worldwide trend towards the consumption of pharmaceuticals to improve social, emotional, and sexual performance. Few studies have examined how young people use PPDs in developing countries, where off-label use is likely to be greater due to weaker market controls. This study presents our findings on PPD use a...
